Companies exist to sell products and services to consumers. Some of these products and services are basic necessities for survival, others are not. One of the ways some companies try to sell their products and services (particularly non-essential products) is through advertising and promotional initiatives. Sometimes companies delve into the gray area of semi-unethical advertising by creating and magnifying human discontent.
Some make it seem that unless you buy their product, then your life is a failure or you are some-how inadequate or other people will like you less. Although these advertising initiatives are probably good for the economy, and definitely better for the company’s profits, are they really better for society, particularly for those who suffer from low self-esteem?
How does one recognize the signs of low self-esteem? They are usually right there in front of a person whenever they speak, and can be found if one inspects and dissects their sentences. Take for instance, song lyrics. Some songs contain statements that may seem romantic at first glance, but if one was to take a closer look at them they may be statements revealing forms of low self-esteem. This category contains quotes from songs that may reveal statements of low self esteem.
Why is low self-esteem wrong? Is it because low self esteem may be the only thing standing between a person reaching their enormous potential in life? If one has only one life to live, then why sell yourself short in life and underachieve?
